One Social Food Hall with Syd the Muralist

Welcome to the One Social Food Hall mural project.

Over the course of one week, this wall is being transformed into a large-scale public artwork inspired by Madison's landscape, culture, and community. The goal is to create a mural that feels uniquely connected to Madison while bringing energy, color, and creativity to the One Social District.

The design draws inspiration from the Madison isthmus, the surrounding lakes, local foliage, the Madison city flag, and the iconic Memorial Union chairs. Rather than depicting these elements literally, they are woven throughout the mural in an abstract and graphic style that invites viewers to discover new details each time they visit.

You'll also find subtle references to One Social and the Food Hall integrated into the design through shape, color, and negative space. The vision is to create a piece that feels rooted in Madison while serving as a visual landmark and gathering place for the district.
